Evans Closes Career with All-America Award

Oskaloosa–Gabi Evans (Sr., West Liberty, Iowa, Psychology and Sociology) wrapped up an illustrious career as a Statesmen women’s bowler with a national accolade as the NAIA announced its All-America teams Wednesday.

Evans was named a Third-Team All-American, one of five individuals to collect the honor. Six bowlers were chosen for the First Team, while four claimed Second-Team recognition.

The award is the first for Evans in her career, while she also becomes the third All-American in program history and the first since the 2015-2016 season.

The senior, who recorded the program’s first-ever perfect 300 game this season, averaged 193.4 pins over the span of 61 games. She notched her perfect game at the Las Vegas Collegiate Shootout back in December.

Evans finished the campaign with three top-10 efforts and two other top-25 showings.

For her career, Evans owned a 184.0 pin average in 228 games (41,956 pins), ranking her fourth in career pin average.

Kristina Catoe of Pikeville (Ky.) was named NAIA Player of the Year, while Rachel Moore of Culver-Stockton (Mo.) garnered the NAIA Rookie of the Year laurel. Pikeville’s Bobby Brown earned NAIA Coach of the Year honors.
