Enabling Garden’s fall Garden Gathering event

Fall Flowers

The Enabling Garden in Altoona, IA, will have its annual Garden Gathering/Fall Fundraising event on Sunday, September 10, 2017, from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. The beautifully landscaped garden is located at 1050 1st Ave. S., Altoona, Iowa 50009, southeast of the Hy-Vee loading dock.

Items for sale will include perennial plants, potted plants, crafts, garden/yard tools, garden equipment and ornaments, baked goods, produce, jam, gourds, mini pumpkins, and flower arrangements. All proceeds will go toward the spring purchase of perennials and annuals, preparation of beds, maintenance supplies, and equipment for the garden.

The mission of the Altoona Enabling Garden is to demonstrate ways gardens can accommodate people with disabilities, allowing everyone to share in the beauty of nature and the joy of gardening. The garden is designed for ease of movement and accessibility with paved paths, raised beds, and vertical plantings. It is maintained by a group of thirty Polk County Master Gardeners, who have received horticultural training through the Iowa State Extension office, and local volunteers.

Please come to this fun event and help keep the garden beautiful for the enjoyment of the entire community.
