Elmer “Moe” Peacock, 61 of New Sharon passed away with his wife by his side holding his hand, Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the UnityPoint Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Elmer G. Peacock Jr., the son of Elmer Sr. and Ethel (Jolly) Peacock, was born on July 18, 1960 in Lansing, Michigan.

Moe graduated from Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas.

Following high school, Moe enlisted with the United States Marine Corp. and was honorably discharged early due to health issues.

After several years together on August 13, 1992, Moe was united in marriage to Denise Holtkamp. Together they raised two daughters, April and Jayne.

Moe held various jobs hanging sheetrock and apartment maintenance before getting his CDL and began a career of driving truck, including driving garbage truck for Waste Management in Oskaloosa and then was an over the road trucker. He drove truck for over 40 years and would still be driving if his health allowed.

Moe was an avid football fan and loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys and Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and the Texas Rangers. Moe loved his family. His pride and joy were his five grandchildren and he was absolutely adored by his nieces and nephews. Moe was a lifetime member of the NRA.

His memory will be honored by his wife, Denise of New Sharon; his daughters, April Woods of Fort Worth, TX and Jayne Sanders of New Sharon; his five grandchildren: Aiden Woods, Caitlyn Sanders, Ethan Woods, Courtney Sanders and Caylee Sanders; two siblings; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of Life and Luncheon will begin at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at the New Sharon McVay Center.
Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.
