Oskaloosa – The Oskaloosa Elks Lodge No. 340 recently donated $3.500 to the Oskaloosa Community Schools to help with the purchase of a rebounding machine for the basketball program. The funds were made possible through grants from the Elks National Foundation Community Investments Program.

“Middle school and senior high basketball players help us with the Elks annual Hoop Shoot each year,” said Elk Debbie Doty. “When we heard that the program was in need of a rebounding machine, we thought we could use our Elks grant opportunities to help pay for this equipment and continue to foster the good will that exists between the Oskaloosa Elks and the Oskaloosa basketball program.”

The Elks National Foundation allocated $12.4 million this year to fund the Community Investments Program. Lodges meet local needs through grants that offer Lodges opportunities to serve the community in ways that will raise the Lodge’s profile, energize the membership, encourage former members to return to the fold, and gain the notice of people who want to be part of an organization that’s doing great things. This year, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of Elks serving communities, Elks National Foundation also made available an additional $1500 anniversary grant to each Elks Lodge that applied. The Oskaloosa Elks combined ENF Gratitude and Anniversary grants to provide the $3,500 towards the rebounding equipment.
