Elaine Molyneux, 84 of Gibson passed away Tuesday evening, April 16, 2019 at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney.
Elaine Fern Molyneux, the daughter of Lovell and Anna McKay Middleton, was born on October 11, 1934 in rural Gibson, Iowa.

On June 20, 1953, Elaine married Bernard Molyneux and to this union three daughters were born, Joyce, Julie and Kimberly. Elaine and Bernie lived in Arkansas during basic training and then Elaine moved back to Gibson while Bernie was in the military.

After her parents retired, Elaine ran the Cottage Café. Elaine was a substitute at the post office and later became the Postmaster retiring in 1990 after working forty years.

Grandchildren were a huge part of her life and she babysat, attended their sporting and school events, as well as helping them with their homework. She was a huge Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Elaine loved to cook, knit, crochet, read, and do crossword puzzles. She was a lifetime member of the Gibson United Presbyterian Church, a member of ladies’ aid, the 13 Club, helped with Bible School and was a 4-H leader for many years. Elaine enjoyed attending the postal state conventions and going to her retired postal meetings where she loved seeing her many friends.

She is survived by her husband, Bernie Molyneux of Gibson; her daughters, Joyce (& Larry) Conrad of Walker, Ia, and Kimberly (& Cloyd) Clubb of What Cheer, Ia; her grandchildren: Trevor (& Ashley) Conrad, Shannon (& Michael) Meadows, Jordan (& Olya) Conrad, Aaron (& Katy) Greene, Melissa (& Jerry) Fairbank, Jesse Greene, and Emily Greene; her 11 great grandchildren: Hannah, Eli, Alex, Justin, Isaiah, Xavier, Gabriel, Riley, Aniston, Arya and Tatum; her brother, Larry (& Elizabeth) Middleton of Ames, Ia; and several other relatives and friends.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, Lovell and Anna Middleton; her daughter, Julie Molyneux; and her brothers in infancy, Hale and Dale Middleton.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Friday, April 19 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Chapel in What Cheer.
Burial will be held in the Indianapolis Cemetery. Holland-Coble Funeral Chapel of What Cheer is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the funeral chapel with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Manor House Activities Department or Keokuk County Hospice.
