Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont Jazz Band Earns Division I

On Saturday, January 26th, the Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont High School Jazz Band earned a division I rating at the State Jazz Band Contest in Muscatine. EBHS Jazz I received a division I rating from all three judges in the performance center. They were only one of two bands to earn straight division I ratings. The band has earned a division I rating ten of the last twelve years. E.B.F.H.S. Jazz I is directed by Joe Overton. The band has 20 members this year.

The next competition for the band will be at the Indianola Jazz Encounter at Indianola High School on February 16th. On February 23th the band will compete at the Indian Hills Jazz Festival and on March 2nd, the band will compete at the SEIBA District Jazz Contest in Iowa City. The annual Jazz Band Concert will be on March 21st at 7:00. Friends and supporters of the band are encouraged to attend.
