Ed Dursky, 73, of Ottumwa, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Rehab Center in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Ed George Dursky, son of George and Bettie (Cummings) Dursky, was born May 19, 1948, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Ed was raised in Oskaloosa and attended the Oskaloosa Schools. He graduated with the Class of 1966.

After his education, he was drafted into the United States Army. While in the Army, he served with the 1st Cavalry Division in Vietnam. Ed received many decorations and medals, including a Purple Heart.

After serving his country, Ed returned home and attended the University of Iowa. He studied journalism and graduated with a bachelor’s degree.

After graduation, Ed returned home to Oskaloosa and worked for the Oskaloosa Herald. He later moved to Kirksville, MO, where he started a publication known as the Kirksville Crier. Ed later worked for Fox 15 in Ottumwa and later as a supervisor for AYM in Albia before his retirement in 2008.

In 1999 Ed met Deb Duncan, and the two were married a year later. They were blessed to spend the past 22 years together.

Ed had many activities he enjoyed, including fishing and hunting, but one of his real passions was discussing politics. With a background in journalism and previous military experience, Ed could debate politics with the best of them. Although he enjoyed his activities, his true passion was his family. He loved being around them all.

Ed’s family includes his wife, Deb Dursky of Ottumwa; his daughters: Renee (& Baker) Rawlings of Kennett Square, PA and Lisa Morgan of West Des Moines, IA; his sons: Chris (& Diana) Duncan of Grinnell, IA, Steve (& Barbara Ann) Duncan of Ottumwa, IA, and Joey (& Julie Ann) Appleby of Ravenna, KY; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bettie.

As was Ed’s wishes, his body has been cremated, and no services are planned at this time. Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory is entrusted with his arrangements.
