EBF Volleyball Sweeps Knoxville in Conference Play
The Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (EBF) volleyball team continued their dominant season on Tuesday night with a straight-set victory over Knoxville, improving their record to 13-2 and maintaining their second-place ranking in Class 2A. The Rockets, now 2-0 in South Central Conference play, won the match 25-18, 25-15, and 25-18 in front of a loud and energized home crowd.
Leading the charge was Molly Shafer, who had a stellar performance with 22 kills on 35/42 attacks, 3 aces on 20-21 serving, and 11 digs. Kate Shafer added 5 kills, 30 assists, and 6 digs, while Lacey Taylor contributed 8 kills and 7 digs.
Coach Gladys Genscow praised the team’s intensity and ability to maintain momentum throughout the match. “What a great Conference Match tonight. The gym was loud, and our team was fired up for a victory. The excitement on their faces when we got points was great to see. The intensity level was the highest I have seen all season. Total team effort,” said Genscow.
Other key contributors included Kinley Lobberecht with 4 assists and 3 aces, and Chloe Lyon with 1 kill and 4 blocks. The Rockets’ serving was on point, with strong performances across the board, including Layni Burch, who went 7/8 on serves.
EBF will look to keep their momentum going as they head to the Ottumwa Tournament this Saturday, September 21.
