The Oskaloosa Softball team fell 6-4 at Pella Christian Monday night. The Indians scored four runs on nine hits but committed five defensive errors. The Eagles scored six runs on nine hits and committed two errors.

Oskaloosa led 3-0 going into the bottom of the third inning, but the Eagles scored four runs on five hits and an Osky error, including a three-run home run.

Hayle Hacker suffered the loss pitching six innings, allowing six runs, four were earned runs, nine hits, 0 walks and struck out six. At the plate, Kaylee Johnson got her bat going with a double, two singles and an RBI. Meghan Moorman had a double and a single, and Maddie Haines had a solo home run, her second this season.

Coach Jay Harms said, “Tough loss. We hit the ball hard all night but right at people for easy plays. Tonight we didn’t make the plays in the field with five errors, and that cost us. We had a chance to get out on them early with runners on second and third with no outs in the first inning and our 3, 4 and, 5 hitters up but didn’t score. We left runners on in scoring position in the first, second, and fourth innings. That’s been the story of our season, stranding runners at crucial times.”

Oskaloosa fell to 11-9 overall and 3-7 in Little Hawkeye Conference play. The Indians host Knoxville on Tuesday night in freshman, JV/Varsity action with the freshman game at 4:30 pm, JV at 6:00 pm and varsity at 7:30 pm, then return to LHC play with a varsity doubleheader at Grinnell Wednesday night starting at 5:30 pm.

You can hear Wednesday’s games from Grinnell live here on Oskaloosa News beginning at 5:15 pm
