Dutch Girls Seal The Win In 4th In 8th Grade Match-up

by Connor Kem

Yesterday evening the 8th grade girls took on a Pella team that was out for revenge. The Pella team came out ready to play right away but our girls responded well. The Indians were in control for most of the game until the 4th quarter. The game became tied and we put on a full court press. The Dutch ladies took advantage of this by making quick and decisive passes which lead to easy layups. Our girls seemed to be gassed towards the end of the game and seemed to lose their competitive edge. Our girls got into the double bonus in the 4th quarter which helped sealed the victory for the Dutch, 31-25. Our girls look to rebound with a win on the road against Newton this Thursday.

The second game looked identical in many ways compared to the first game. Our girls seemed to be in control for most of the contest until the second half. We missed many open shots/layups and defensively committed many fouls. Our second group was led by the aggressive play of Olivia Stoghill and Ella Roach. These two girls took many good open looks and led us on defense with many steals. This second group also looks to get another win against Newton this upcoming Thursday, Go Indians!
