Dorothy L. Dow, 90, of Keomah Village, died Thursday, January 14, 2016, at the MHP Emergency Room in Oskaloosa. She was born November 24, 1925, in Franklin County, Iowa, the daughter of Rudolph and Beulah Steiff Rollene.

Dorothy graduated from Dows (IA) High School, with the class of 1943, and later married Glen Miller. Two children, Arnelle and Keith, were born to this union. Glen died in 1954. Dorothy then married Robert Dow on April 12, 1958, in Hampton, Iowa. Robert and Dorothy had one son, Scott.

Dorothy worked for Farmers Hybrid Seed Corn Company in Hampton. They moved to Ottumwa in 1960, where she belonged to the First Methodist Church and worked for Flowers by Russell Mote. In 1974, she and Robert purchased the Chief Mahaska Restaurant and moved to Oskaloosa. They operated the restaurant until retiring in 1994.

Dorothy was a member of the Gateway Church of the Nazarene in Oskaloosa, where she served on several committees and sang in the choir. She served on the Adult Ministries Board, and in the Church and MOPS nurseries. She helped prepare many meals and banquets for church functions. She was presented with The Distinguished Service Award by the Nazarene Church for many years of faithful service.

Her family includes her by husband Bob; a daughter, Arnelle (& Allan) Nairn of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Sally Dow of Ottumwa; a son, Scott (& Laureen) Dow of Temple City, California; five grandchildren: Dr. Zack (& Jill) Dow of Ankeny, Alex Dow of California, Adam Dow of California, Brodie Nairn of England, and Eilidh Nairn of England; Three great-grandchildren: Quintan, Whyatt, and Dahlia Dow of Ankeny; a sister-in-law, Pat Meyer of Iowa Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her first husband Glen, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Keith; three brothers: Milo, Dale and Verl Rollene; and two sisters: Fern Gorder and Lucille Miller.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. in the Gateway Church of the Nazarene in Oskaloosa with Reverend Bill Hines officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery at Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Monday after 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel, and the family will be at the funeral chapel Monday from 5 – 7 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Gateway Church of the Nazarene.
