Donna Colleen Wills Minter, 73, of Oskaloosa, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. She spent her final days at the Northern Mahaska Nursing and Rehab. Center surrounded by her family and a host of friends.
Donna was born February 16, 1940, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Willis W. and Matilda “Tillie” Smith Wills.
On February 2, 1957, Donna was united in marriage to her best friend Mearl J. Minter at the Oskaloosa First Assembly of God Church.
Donna worked at the old Continental Overall Factory in Oskaloosa, S.S. Kreskes, Alsops, Sunflower, and McGregor’s Furniture. Donna also shared her musical talents playing for many weddings and funerals.
Donna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful member and servant of the Lord at First Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa, where she played the organ and piano. Donna enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Her family includes her husband of over 56 years Mearl Minter of Oskaloosa; a son, Micheal (& Jackie) Minter of Eddyville; a daughter Delynn Overturf of Clive; a brother, Wes Wills of Oskaloosa; two grandchildren, Trisha (& Rob) Brewer and Bill (& Holly) Ver Schure; six great grandchildren, Andria, Grace, Emma, Billy, Bo and Jack; and many friends and neighbors.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents Willis and Tillie Wills.
A funeral ceremony to celebrate Donna’s life will be held Friday, November 1, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend Mike Dotson and Reverend Dr. Del Bittner officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Thursday morning after 10 and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Thursday evening from 5-7 to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa in memory of Donna Minter.
