Donna Mae Hibler, age 85, of rural New Sharon, passed away on January 9, 2022, at her home. Donna was born on November 14, 1936, in Mahaska County, Iowa, the daughter of Leeman and Retha (Caskey) Alexander.

Donna graduated from the Lacey High School and later Parsons College before attending Northeast Missouri State College.

Donna was united in marriage to Stanley Hibler on June 16, 1957, in Oskaloosa. To this union three children were born, Allan, Terri and Tony. They shared 54 years of marriage together until Stanley passed away in 2012.

Donna taught school in Albia, Bloomfield and North Mahaska. She served as secretary to the Booster Club of North Mahaska.

She was a member of the Union Mills Christian Church in New Sharon and served as Union Mills Christian Women’s Fellowship. Donna was also active in little league. She loved watching her children and grandchildren participate in their sports. She worked alongside her husband in the farming and trucking industries. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, square dancing, fishing and watching the state universities play football and basketball.

Donna is survived by children: Allan Hibler, Terri Readshaw and Tony (& Mary Jo) Hibler, all of New Sharon; six grandchildren: Kristan Hibler, Megan (& Scott) Van Wyk, Paige (& Zac) Moorman, Colton Moore, Cassandra (& Logan) Long, A.J. (& Jenna) Hibler, and Dakota Readshaw; seven great grandchildren: Cambel, Beckett and Reese Van Wyk, Brayden Luckette, Mila Long, Kash, Kruz and Presley Moorman; a brother, Gary (& Connie) Alexander; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Doris; and a niece, Renee Alexander.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 14, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. in the Union Mills Christian Church near New Sharon with Pastor Josh Martin officiating.
Burial will take place in the Union Mills Cemetery near New Sharon. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Thursday, January 13, after 11:00 a.m. at the Union Mills Christian Church and the family will be at the church from 5-7 p.m. Thursday evening to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Union Mills Christian Church.
