Donald Bolibaugh, 76, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, November 23, 2012, at the MHP Hospital in Oskaloosa. He was born June 25, 1936, at Oskaloosa, the son of Dean and Ruth Miller Bolibaugh. He grew up in Eddyville and graduated from the Eddyville High School with the class of 1954. He served in the United States Navy. On April 28, 1963, he was united in marriage to Verna Walker at the Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa. Don worked for 30 years as a mechanic at Bill and Ray’s in Oskaloosa, then for 5 years with Mike Wymore at Wymore Automotive. Lastly he worked for 12 years at Vermeer Manufacturing in Pella, retiring from there in 2004. Don enjoyed going to auctions, woodworking, going to the races and watching Nascar on television. He was always on the hunt for a new pulley to add to his collection. He delighted in spending time with his family and friends. He always looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events. He was a member of the Masons.

His family includes his wife of over 49 years, Verna Bolibaugh of Beacon; a daughter, Becky (& Jeff) Leu of Ottumwa; two sons, Wade (& Noelle) Bolibaugh and Grant Bolibaugh all of Oskaloosa; five grandchildren, Ethan Leu, Blake Leu, Veronica Bolibaugh, Waylon Bolibaugh, and Vivian Bolibaugh; a sister, Alice (& John) DeRooi of Grinnell; a brother, Paul (& Marie) Bolibaugh of Ottumwa; and many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother and sister in law, Richard and Ladonna Bolibaugh.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 26, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverends David Pinkerton and David Childers officiating. Military honors will be given by members of the Oskaloosa American Legion and V.F.W. As a final act of kindness and generosity Don has deeded his body to the University of Iowa for medical research. Open visitation will begin Sunday after 1 p.m. and continue until 3p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa. The family will be at the funeral chapel from 12 noon on Monday until service time at 2 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Mahaska County Relay for Life.
