Donald “Big Boy” Rex Francis, age 71, passed away peacefully at his home on March 31, 2021 with his family by his side, under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice. He was born on May 9, 1949 to Donald D. and Maxine (Whisler) Francis.
A man that is known as a man of God. We are so thankful to have him in our lives, as a dad, friend, grandpa and great grandpa. This man was never one to put anyone out and had a heart for all no matter what the situation you are in; he loved them all! He loved to fish, hunt for turkeys and deer, and even ice fishing. The stories and memories are endless with this man. He will be loved always and forever. It’s not so much goodbye as see you later.
Donald is survived by children: Eric (& Julie) Francis of Eddyville, Chad (& Susan) Francis of Eddyville, Larae (& Jeromey) Middlesworth of Ottumwa; grandchildren: Lane, Blair, Kade, Alexis, Morgen, Emma, Amber, Brianna, Tiffany, Cameron, Gabe, Jerrick, Regan, Larissa; siblings: Sandra (& Larry) Glenn of Ottumwa, Dixie (& Ed) Hoyt of Oskaloosa, and Dan “Humpy” (& Sheila) Francis of Eddyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Maxine Francis.
Donald has been cremated per his wishes. Services entrusted with Eddyville Funeral Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and updated on the obituary once decided.
