Mahaska County Supervisor Mark Doland

Greetings from the Mahaska County Courthouse. As your newest elected Mahaska County Supervisor, I appreciate all of the support I received on election day. I appreciate Tom Rielly’s candor in his address of well wishes to my new position. I also want to extend a thank you to Tom’s supporters who exemplified a lot of class by remaining respectful. There were many that voted in the special election. It was an excellent turnout and we witnessed one of the closest elections in Mahaska County history. At the canvass the official margin was only twenty-one votes. Every voter mattered in the final tally. This reminds us that as citizens we have a civic responsibility and that every single vote counts.

Three weeks into my new role as Supervisor, I am learning many new ways to represent my constituents. I have been appointed to a number of boards and have attended meetings all over southeast and central Iowa. I have heard citizen’s concerns over many issues and I will continue to be available to listen to you. We have an open door policy and I welcome anyone to call me with your concerns.

At the end of any election, there is a divided electorate. However, I am a representative of all of the people, and as I noted in my campaign, I will work with you whether you voted for me or my opponent. I welcome your input and advice. Let’s work together in order to continue to make Mahaska County a great place to live.

In His Service,

Mark Doland
