Doland Tenders Resignation Effective June 5, 2018
Oskaloosa, Iowa – In an email sent to Mahaska County officials on Monday morning, Mahaska County Supervisor Mark Doland officially tendered his resignation effective June 5, 2018.
The email states, “As you all know there has been a dispute brought forth regarding my eligibility to continue to serve as Mahaska County Supervisor. While I remain convinced that I meet all eligibility requirements, I believe it is best to resign my position as of 6-5-2018 to resolve the controversy that has become the focus.”
Oskaloosa News questioned Doland at their May 2nd meeting about his residency. He said he is staying with a friend and county employee Pat Scanlon. Scanlon lives on North Market in Oskaloosa.
When asked about the court documents that say he lives in Norwalk, Iowa, Doland responded by saying “Well, it’s not my legal address.”
“It’s not like a residence,” added Doland. The address, when looked up on Google Street View, shows a split level home.
Oskaloosa News asked if Doland had then lied to Federal Bankruptcy Court. “No,” replied Doland.
When asked if he believes he has been committing fraud on the taxpayers of Mahaska County, Doland replied “No.”
When asked if he will resign his position, Doland said “No.”
According to bankruptcy documents that contain his check stubs, his employer lists his address as a Norwalk address.
Doland also declared in those Federal documents that he moved to Norwalk on December 1st of 2017.
