Diane Dewitt passed away on September 30, 2019 at her home in Lacey, Iowa at the age of 68 years, 2 months, and 3 days.
Diane M. “Scoot” Dewitt, daughter of Pauline and John Scott, was born on July 27,1951, near Coal Creek in Mahaska County.

Diane attended country school until the age of 8 when the family moved to Oskaloosa. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1969.

Diane started working at Stapp’s Drug Store, until 1975, when she began her career at Clow Valve, where she was employed for 38 years.

On May 14, 1977, Diane was united in marriage to Robert D. Dewitt at First Christian Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa. To this union, two children were born, Angela Dawn and Bryan Dean.

She enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s activities. She liked antiquing and refinishing furniture when she was younger, and taking care of her flowers, but her real passion was shopping for her family and friends. She always knew how to find the bargains.

Diane is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert; daughter, Angela Landers of Oskaloosa; son, Bryan Dewitt of Lacey; two grand daughters, Hailey and Addison Landers of Oskaloosa; her mother, Pauline Ferns of Oskaloosa; three sisters, Linda Williams of Oklahoma, Paula (& Matt) Moore of Oskaloosa, and Joan Wickenkamp of Oskaloosa; several nieces and nephews; father and mother-in-law, Donald and Lucile Dewitt of Lacey; three brothers-in-law, Jim Dewitt of Missouri, Dennis (& Marcy) Dewitt of Lacey, and Randy Dewitt of Lacey.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Scott; stepdad, Dale Ferns; brother-in-law, Scott Stout; and close friend and former brother-in-law, Nick Williams.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 4, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend Molly Goodrich officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will begin Thursday October 3, 2019 after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel, and the family will be present from 5 to 8 Thursday evening.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Services of Mahaska County or First Christian Church.
