Deloris Grosvenor, 82, of Ottumwa and formerly of Fremont, died Thursday, November 11, 2021, at the Trinity Unity Point Hospital in Bettendorf, Iowa. She was born August 5, 1939, in Burlington, Iowa the daughter of Theodore Roosevelt and Fern Anna Johnson Gray.

Deloris graduated from Danville High School with the class of 1957. Deloris went on to complete Burlington Business College Dale Carnegie degree in business administration.

On June 29, 1958, she was united in marriage to Ivan Heaton in Danville, Iowa. To this union three daughters were born, Deb, Jan, and Kim. Ivan died on November 13, 1985.

Early on Deloris and Ivan moved to Peoria, Illinois for a short time. They moved back to Danville, and she went to work at various places. She worked the longest as the office manager at Gundrum and Breckner Doctors’ office. Later she worked for Nelson Medical in Burlington. Last she worked at the Trading Post in West Burlington.

On July 6, 1988, she was united in marriage to (Cecil) Dewaine Grosvenor in Haley, Idaho.

In October of 2000, they moved to Fremont and Deloris worked at Bank Iowa. In October of 2018, the couple moved to Ottumwa.

Deloris enjoyed dancing especially square dancing, line dancing, and clogging with her family. She was a talented musician and enjoyed playing music and just relaxing and listening to music. She and Dewaine enjoyed many jam sessions with their band the Mud Creek Muddlers.

Deloris had a spirit for adventure, she looked forward to going on cruises, winters in Texas, camping, and many other trips that she and Dewaine planned. She enjoyed working puzzles, canning, baking, cooking, and sewing. Her faith was very important to her, she was always active in church no matter where they lived. She was quick to offer her musical talents in the choir and praise bands. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family especially her grandchildren.

Her family includes her husband of over 33 years, Dewaine Grosvenor of Ottumwa; three daughters and their husbands: Deb (& Dennis) Beach of Fremont, Jan (& Ross) Bayliss of Fremont, and Kim (& Don) Timmins of Washington; two stepdaughters and their husbands: Son-Ja (& Jaime) Meza and Nicole (& Lupe) Jimenez all of Texas; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Nancy (& Eugene) Krogmeier of Danville, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her first husband Ivan, Deloris was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Nicholas Bayliss; three brothers, Darrell Gray, Gary Gray, and Donnie Gray; and a sister, Betty Jean Bendlage.

A memorial service will be held Monday, November 15, 2021, at 1 p.m. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel with Reverend Jim Dotson officiating.
As was Deloris’ wish her body has been cremated.
The family will be at the Fremont Funeral Chapel from 10:00 a.m. Monday until service time at 1 to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
