Delmer Stone, 89 of Conrad and formerly of New Sharon passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, November 2, 2019 at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Conrad, Iowa. Delmer Gene Stone, the son of Elmer and Hazel (Moore) Stone, was born on June 9, 1930 in Kellogg, Iowa.
Delmer attended Searsboro High School.
On March 6, 1948, Delmer was united in marriage to Ava Jean Johnson in Newton, Iowa. To this union two sons were born, David and Terry.
Delmer worked at a few different factories, a feed mill and eventually took up farming full time. He enjoyed his time farming, his machinery and was very proud of his neatness of his operation and the appearance of his farms.
Delmer was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the New Sharon Assembly of God Church.
Delmer’s legacy will be honored by his children: Terry (& Michelle) Stone of Nixa, MO and David (& Linda) Stone of Conrad; nine grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; a sister, Judy (& Carroll) Rhine of Albia; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Hazel Stone; his wife, Ava Jean Stone in 2015; and a granddaughter, Megan Stone.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon.
Visitation will be held on hour prior to the service. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery in New Sharon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown, Iowa.
