December Player of the Month Laurels to Miner, Lake

Oskaloosa–The William Penn University Athletics Booster Club has announced the recipients of the December Player of the Month laurels.

Senior men’s bowler Jayson Miner (Silvis, Ill., Business Management) earned the Male award, while senior women’s bowler Alexis Lake (Kaysville, Utah, Nursing) claimed the Female honor. The accolade is the first for Lake, while Miner is now a two-time winner.

Miner was dominant in three events, posting a 217.3 average over the span of 21 games. The senior eclipsed the 200-pin barrier in 15 of those games with a high of 256. He was named to one all-tournament team and placed no lower than 21st during the month.

Lake averaged 191.1 pins in 19 games of action. She had a high game of 255, which stands as the best round for any Statesmen bowler this season. She helped her team to a third-place finish at the Warhawk Open, an event where the senior also posted a WPU season-best 204.5 pin average.
