David McSparen, age 63, of Oskaloosa, passed away on December 21, 2020 at the Mercy Hospital and Clinics in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born on March 29, 1957 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Donald McSparen and Mary Scott.

David attended high school in Monterey, California and graduated with the Class of 1975.

After High School, David moved back to Iowa. He worked at Pella Corporation for 25 years until he was unable to continue working and retired.

David was a board member of the South-Central Iowa Independent Living Center. He enjoyed going fishing and spending time with the coffee group at McDonalds every morning.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Scott McSparen of Oskaloosa; a daughter, Monica Roberts of Blakesburg; seven grandchildren; a brother, Donald McSparen of Oskaloosa; and a sister, Debbie Hedgecock of Noblesville, Indiana.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two brothers, Doug McSparen and Dennis McSparen.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, in the Bates Funeral Chapel beginning after 12:00 p.m. and the family will be present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening to greet friends and family.
According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and masks will be required for attending a public event.
As was David’s wish, his body will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
