Culmination of 100 Day Wellness Challenge

100 Day Wellness Challenge

For the last 95 days, as a part of the 100 Day Wellness Challenge, 664 adults in Mahaska County have been recording minutes of activity and/or pounds lost. There have been 1555 youth recording their activity all in an effort to live healthy longer. This participation figure represents over 10% of the population of Mahaska County. “We have reason to celebrate,” Mahaska Wellness Coalition team members stated.

Adult participants of Mahaska Community’s Live Healthy 100 Day Wellness Challenge will celebrate the successes of their challenge Friday, May 4, at noon in downtown Oskaloosa. Plans are to meet at the Square at 12 pm, hear a brief message from Mayor Dave Krutzveld and have a group photo taken at approximately 12:15 celebrating the end of the Live Healthy Iowa 100 Day Wellness Challenge. Following the group photo, there will be opportunity for team photos. Of course you are encouraged to “Step Along With Us” around the Square as a part of your daily physical activity. In the case of rain, the downtown event will be held in the Penn Central Mall’s center court.

“Youth participants will celebrate Friday, May 4 at Oskaloosa Elementary School by exercising from 8:25 to 8:55 am as a part of the ‘Go The Distance Day’ event,” said Jennifer Peterson.

The entire Oskaloosa High School (674) will be walking around the school block from 12:35 to 1:00 on Friday. Ginny Foster stated, “We did this last fall and the students and staff enjoyed getting outside and socializing together as they got fresh air and exercise!”

Mahaska Wellness Coalition monthly community walks continue on the first Friday of each month at noon. Mahaska County Conservation Board monthly walks continue the third Saturday of the month at 1 pm.
