Cook This! Competition

Ames, Iowa – Cook This! is a culinary challenge where three-member teams compete in various challenges to demonstrate their knowledge in kitchen equipment, produce identification, and nutrition, as well as utilizing required skills and creativity in their food preparation. There are three age levels: junior (5-6th grade), intermediate (7-8th grade), and senior (9-12th grade). Along with the culinary challenges, there is also a communication challenge where teams present on a food or nutrition related topic. Only one member from each team is required to be a member of 4-H. Members can also enter individually or as pairs and will later be matched with other individuals. This competition will be held during the 2013 Iowa State Fair on August 9-10.

The Cook This! competition is a great opportunity for Iowa youth to learn about where their food comes from, demonstrate their knowledge of food preparation and safety, work in teams, and gain skills in communication and leadership.
