Oskaloosa. Col. Harry C. Kool, 77, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at the MHP Serenity House. He was born August 22, 1935 at Oskaloosa, the son of Fred and Freida I. Hewitt Kool. Harry attended the old Fairview county school and then the Oskaloosa High School. On May 14, 1955, he was united in marriage to Sandra J. Allgood at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. Harry’s dad encouraged him to become an auctioneer, and Harry graduated from the Worldwide School of Auctioneering in Mason City. He was a successful auctioneer and Real Estate broker in the Oskaloosa area for 53 years. Harry was a fun-loving man and delighted in his time spent with family and friends. His grandsons were his pride and joy. Harry was a member of the Elks, Eagles, and the New Hope Free Methodist Church, Oskaloosa.

His family includes his wife of over 57 years, Sandra J. Kool of Oskaloosa; a daughter, Pamela Kool Albertson, and her husband, Buster Albertson of Oskaloosa; a daughter in law: Debra Kool, and grandsons Daniel and Levi, all of St. Paul, Minnesota. Also surviving are four brothers: Tony Kool, Oskaloosa, Sam (& Alice) Kool of Eddyville, Clayton (& JoAnn) Kool of Oskaloosa, and Howard (& Janet) Kool of McCook, Nebraska; and a sister, Kathy Kool Rawson of Walker, Iowa.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Harry Duane Kool; a grandson, Mathew Englehoven; a brother: Andrew Kool; two sisters: Zua Kool and Stella Cook; and a brother in law: Clyde Rodger Allgood.

Funeral service will be held Friday, September 28, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor David Leraaen officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery at Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Thursday after 11 a.m., and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the MHP Serenity House or the American Cancer Society.
