“Coal Mining on the Muchikinock Creek”

Environmental Learning Center at Caldwell Park

The Mahaska County Conservation Board invites you to attend a special public program titled “Coal Mining on the Muchikinock Creek” at the Environmental Learning Center on the evening of Monday, October 21 from 6:30-8:00 pm. Guest speaker, Doug Wilson, has been studying coal mines in Mahaska County and the surrounding counties all his life. Mr. Wilson will give a presentation on what he has learned about the history of coal mining along Mahaska County’s Muchikinock Creek. His presentation will be very informative and will include photographs and artifacts that he has collected over the years.

Parking will be available behind the Environmental Learning Center and the program will be held in the lower level of the building. Refreshments will be provided and there is no cost for this program. The Environmental Learning Center is located at Caldwell Park, 2342 Hwy. 92 East, Oskaloosa, IA 52577.
