OSKALOOSA, IA — Join the Daily Youth Theatre for their last weeks of summer camp this year! Bring to life the colorful, crazy stories of Dr. Seuss during August 5 – 9th. Campers will create plays based on “The Lorax,” “The Sneetches,” “The Cat in the Hat,” and “Green Eggs and Ham.”

The camp will also include a daylong circus workshop taught by professional performer Laura Ernst. Ernst’s abilities earned her time on America’s Got Talent.

The Dr. Seuss class is open to students entering 1st grade through 8th grade. The cost is $65 for the week, with discounts for families that attend multiple weeks or enroll multiple students. Financial aid is also available.

Melanie Mackey, a William Penn University student and summer counselor at the Daily, says, “We’re jazzed about our final weeks. We’re thankful for everyone who’s supported us so far and we’re ready to go out with a bang!”

The final week of summer camp, a special three-day camp for kids entering Kindergarten through 2nd grade, will run August 12 – 14. Perfect for getting young ones back in the swing of things before school starts, students will perform short plays based on Calvin & Hobbes comic strips and play games that encourage teamwork and self-worth. Cost is $30.

Camp runs Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students should bring two snacks, a lunch, and closed toe shoes. Register in advance by contacting the George Daily Auditorium, or come to the Auditorium on Monday morning at 9 a.m.!

Every session ends with a showcase on Friday at 2:30 p.m. so that campers have a chance to show off what they’ve learned and created. The showcases are free and open to the public.
