Claude Good, 75, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, September 24, 2021, at the MHP Hospital in Oskaloosa. He was born August 29, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Donald and Barbara Speck Good.

Claude graduated from High School in 1954. Following graduation, he joined the United States Navy.

On November 4, 1965, he was united in marriage to Juanita Hucks, at Alexandria, Virginia. To this union three children were born, Michelle, Barbara, and Donald.

Claude was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1968. Following his discharge the family lived in Baltimore, Maryland, and Des Moines. In 1970, they settled in Norwoodville. In 1974, they moved to Rose Hill.

Claude worked in Oskaloosa at the Holliday Station, Ma and Pa gas station. He later took a job at Farm Service in Oskaloosa. After a few years there he started his career in maintenance. First at William Penn College then at Central College in Pella. Last he worked in the Maintenance Department at the Mahaska Hospital, retiring from there in 2007. In retirement he drove cars for Carriker Ford in Oskaloosa and delivered medicine and flowers for Hy-Vee.

Claude’s family was the center of his world, he always looked forward to family get togethers. He was a member of the Oskaloosa Eagles Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan.

His family includes his three children, Michelle Vander Molen of Des Moines, Barbara (& Tim) Van Polen of Searsboro, and Donald (& Donna) Good of Oskaloosa; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Gary (& Leann) Good of Virginia; and a sister, Donna Lineburger of Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews.

Claude was preceded in death by his wife Juanita on August 25, 2019; his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Robert and Josephine Hucks; a sister-in-law, Tocha Good; and a brother in law, Kip Lineburger.

As was Claude’s wish his body has been cremated and no services are planned. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
