Clarence “Freddie” Mose, age 87, of Albia, formerly of Louisiana and California, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Freddie was born on July 5, 1932, in Eunice, Louisiana, to Edwin and Rose (Johnson) Mose.

Freddie grew up and attended school in Eunice.

Freddie married Celina Reed and to this union, 6 children were born. Freddie and Celina later divorced. He then married Dorothy Dixon and to this union, 2 children were born. They also later divorced and Freddie has spent the last 17 years with his dear friend, Alajean Sinegal.

Freddie worked construction for many years before becoming a self-employed talented painter who could paint anything. He later was an over the road truck driver for a brief period of time before lastly working in pest control for Orkin in California.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia, as well as a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and in his younger years he loved to dance. Freddie was very social, enjoyed visiting with others and never knew a stranger. He also loved to travel to Jamaica and California. Freddie was very proud of going back to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina to assist with clean up and painting.

Freddie is survived by his 9 children: Clarence Mose Jr, Celina (& Thorton) Head, Shirleen (& Bishop Levon) Thurman, Jerline (& Bishop Billy) Sanders, Linda (& Michael) Clark, Ernest (& Rose) Mose, Clerance Mose Jr, Edward (& Yolanda) Mose, and DeAnna (& Mike) Rowe; a step-daughter, Andre (Billy) Fruge; 31 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren;1 great-great grandchild; 3 brothers: Arthur (Freddie) Mose, Florence “Uncle Bob” Mose, and Joseph “Joe Boy” Victorian Sr; 4 sisters: Rita Mose, Jean (& Roger) Papillion, Florence LaRue and Geanora Allison; and his dear friend, Alajean Sinegal. Freddie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Rose; his stepfather, Joseph Victorian; 2 sisters, Betty Ann (Mose) Lafleur and Irene (Mose) Carrier; 2 brothers, Lawrence Mose and Jimmy Guillory; 7 stepsisters: Mary Lou Ceaser and 6 others; a sister-in-law, Linda Mose; a niece, Gail Papillion; a nephew, Joseph Papillion Jr; and 2 daughters-in-law, Delores Mose and Elaine Mose.

There are no services planned in Albia.
A Celebration of Freddie’s life will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Quirk and Son Funeral Home in Basile, Louisiana.
Following the service, Freddie’s body will be cremated and a private burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date.
