Clare Mason, 74 of New Sharon passed away Thursday afternoon, August 24, 2017 at home in New Sharon. Clare Ann Mason, the daughter of Harley and Edna (Pummel) Reynolds, was born on December 11, 1942 in Marion, Iowa.

Clare was a 1961 graduate of Marion High School and attended the nursing program at the University of Iowa.

On April 8, 1967, Clare was united in marriage to Jerry Mason in Marion, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Robert, Richelle and Richard.

Clare and Jerry lived in Barnes City before moving to Grinnell where she was a housewife and raised her children. Clare then worked at Grinnell Mutual for several years before moving to Monett, MO in 1983. She worked at Monett Manufacturing.

Clare was a wonderful seamstress and made uniforms and flags for the Monett High School Marching Band, the Joplin High School Marching Band and the Missouri Southern State College Marching Band.

In 2002, Jerry and Clare moved back to New Sharon to be closer to family. Clare enjoyed camping, cross stitching, knitting and collecting Thimbles. She also had two pet Alligators, Ally and Gator.

Faith and family were very important to Clare. She was a member of the Monett Methodist Church in Monett, MO, She was very active in her church, volunteering her time cleaning the church, filling in as secretary, or just helping out where ever she was needed. She was also a member of the New Sharon United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi and Women of Today.

Her memory will be honored by her husband of 50 years, Jerry Mason of New Sharon; three children: Robert Mason of New Sharon, Richelle (& Mark) Swope of New Sharon and Richard Mason of Murdock, Kansas; five grandchildren: Caelan Swope, Devon Swope, Kairi Mason, Rand Mason and Rowan Mason; one brother, Harley (& Gloria) Reynolds of Amarillo, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.

Clare was preceded in death by her parents.

As was her wish, her body has been cremated and no services are planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Sharon United Methodist Church in honor of Clare.
