Cheerganza a success

Oskaloosa High School was again the host of the 2nd annual cheerzanga Saturday evening. Beginning just before 7 pm various schools began performing their various cheers for a crowd of about 150 adults and students. At the end of Cheerganza I had time to catch up with coach Kathy Dibb who explained what exactly Cheerganza is “It is a cheerleading show that we open up for teams to come for free. A lot of times when teams are invited to compete there is always a cost to it so it’s hard for the smaller schools to get out there. So basically it is just a show that we open up. Teams can bring in their sideline cheers, full routines really any level and we open it up for the public as a fundraiser also for the cheerleading squad.”

Dibb also commented on how the show went this evening ” I think it went very good. We had some great teams. We had all aspects of cheerleading. We had crowd leading, dancing, tumbling, stunting. All the elements were here tonight. It’s good for the public to get that exposure too.” This year’s show was the second annual cheerganza. Dibb said this year’s event was noticeably larger “We had a show last year. It was quite a bit smaller since it was our first year so we are hoping that every year it builds up even more and its a good opportunity this year for teams to come in.” Dibb also commented on her team for this year “The team that we have this year is just a great team, lots of heart, lots of spirit.”
