Charles Wilson, 86, died Saturday evening, September 4, 2021, at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Charles Edward Wilson was born in Fayette County, West Virginia, on November 4, 1934, the son of Major and Dorothy (Kirk) Wilson. He was the seventh of thirteen children.

Charles attended school in West Virginia through the ninth grade.

Following his education, Charles worked in Wyoming and South Dakota while living with his sister. In 1952, he moved to Cleveland, OH, and worked as a machinist.

Charles married Wanda Botteicher in Euclid, Ohio, in 1955, and to this union, one son, Randall, was born.

Charles was later employed by Caterpillar, where he worked for 22 years.

In 1977, Charles married Amerillis (May) Johnson in Newbury, OH; and in 1984, they moved to Fremont, Iowa.

After coming to Iowa, Charles worked for ServiceMaster, Wal-Mart, and finally at the Fremont Farms egg plant in Fremont.

Charles enjoyed going to casinos, playing poker on his PS2, watching TV, and jigsaw puzzles.

His family includes his wife, Amerillis; his son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Sandie Wilson of Alger, OH; two granddaughters: Lynna (& Greg) Mooney and Heather (& Aaron) Bowman of Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Mya Benham and Zackary Bowman; two step-children: Mark (& Marilyn) Johnson of Ohio and Paul Johnson of Ankeny; eight step-grandchildren: Jason and James Johnson of Oskaloosa, Briana (& Adam) Lees of Calgary, Alberta, Brady Johnson of Pennsylvania, Austin Johnson of Ohio, Michael (& Mary) Callow of Alabama, Katie (& Jeremy) Empie of Oskaloosa, Ben (& Heather) Callow of Oskaloosa; eight step-great-grandchildren: Katie Blake, Brianna Blake, Madison Callow, Krystal, and Annebelle Callow, Kennadee and Zaya Johnson and Shaylee Johnson; and two siblings: Joy Dyer of West Virginia and David James (& Sonny) Wilson of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents, his first wife, Wanda, ten siblings; his brother-in-law, Jim May, step-daughter, Susan Elaine Callow, and step-great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Callow.

A visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory; the family will greet visitors from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Cremation will follow the visitation.
Memorials may be made to Langkamp Funeral Chapel for his son.
