Central’s Taylor part of All-Star game’s fan vote

PELLA — Central College men’s basketball player Colby Taylor (Creston) is a finalist to play in the Reese’s® Division III College All-Star Game on March 18 in Salem, Virginia.

Taylor is one of eight senior student-athletes in the running to earn two of the 20 roster slots for the All-Star Game, which takes place March 18 at 3:30 p.m. prior to the start of the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship game.

Voting will take place on the front page of D3hoops.com starting at Noon E.T. on Monday March 6 and runs through Noon E.T. on Wednesday, March 8. Fans will choose from a list featuring one player from each of Division III’s eight regions. The two with the most fan votes will join 16 other seniors, two from each region, who were selected by a committee vote.

“Allowing fans to vote online for the Reese’s College All-Star Game in Division III lets fans be directly involved and adds to the excitement surrounding the event,” said Reggie Minton, NABC deputy executive director. “The Reese’s All-Star game is a terrific event for the coaches, student-athletes and fans.”

Taylor led the Iowa Conference with 21.0 points per game and was third at 7.8 rebounds per contest. The school’s all-time leading scorer, Taylor has been recognized as an all-Iowa Conference first team performer twice (2016-17, 2015-16) and second team once (2014-15) He’s also a two-time D3hoops.com All-West Region third team selection (2014-15 and 2015-16).
