PELLA — Central College women’s soccer defender Liz Daniels (senior, Oconomowoc, Wis.) has been named to the Capital One Division III Academic All-District Eight women’s soccer team presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve at the varsity level and achieve a 3.30 or better cumulative grade point average.

Daniels is a biochemistry major with a 3.72 GPA and has helped anchor a Central defense that has allowed only 12 goals in 17 matches this season. The Dutch (10-4-3 overall, 5-1-1 Iowa Conference) have recorded 10 shutouts this year, tying the school record set last season, and finished in second place in the conference standings, which is the best in program history. Daniels has scored nine career goals–three this season–including the game-winner Tuesday in a 1-0 overtime victory at Simpson.

The Central defender was one of five players from the Iowa Conference out of the 13 players selected for the District Eight team. Also cited were Hannah Wilson and Kristina Everding of Loras College, Lisa Trizzino of Wartburg College and Erin Wilson of Luther College.

Daniels is a three-year letterwinner and was named honorable mention all-Iowa Conference in 2012 and academic all-Iowa Conference in 2012 and 2013. She has also been the conference defensive player of the week twice in her career, including once this season.
