Central United Methodist Church will be holding their annual “Fat Tuesday” Pancake Dinner on Tuesday, March 4th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Pancakes, sausage and a beverage will be served with a freewill offering.

“Fat Tuesday” is a day people prepared and feasted on special foods in order to use up all the things in the household which were “forbidden” to be eaten until Lent came to an end at Easter. In English-speaking countries the most common foods for the celebration are pancakes and donuts. Many towns in England, and some in this country, still hold annual Pancake Races on Fat Tuesday where housewives run a course through town or between villages while flipping pancakes in the air from a skillet.

Will there be Pancake Races at Central United Methodist Church??? Probably not races, but you never know what might happen with the crazy cooks. Rumor has it the Iowa Barnstormers may be flipping some cakes. Please join us and see what may happen.

All proceeds go to support the Team HOPE and their local and outreach Mission Service. This March they will be travelling to Illinois to assist with flood recovery.

Team HOPE has worked on disaster recovery at Parkersburg, Cedar Rapids, Colfax, Oakville, and rural southwest Iowa; along with disaster recovery trips to New Orleans, Louisiana, Port Arthur, Texas, Friendsville, Texas, Waverly, Tennessee, Joplin, Missouri, and cities in New York with Hurricane Sandy relief.
