Carrie Stein, 50, of Sigourney, died Monday, February 26, 2018 at the Sigourney Care Center. Carrie Lynn Stein was born November 25, 1967 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Lonnie Stein and Joan Malloy.

At six months of age, Carrie had an allergic reaction to the pertussis vaccine. As a result of a seizure, Carrie’s cognitive ability was affected. At age eleven, Carrie suffered another severe seizure which left her physically disabled and could no longer walk.

Growing up, Carrie always enjoyed sneaking out of the house and playing with her dad’s sows. She was the biggest fan of her little brother, Eric, and his baseball team. She was always in happy spirits and enjoyed playing with her stuffed monkeys. A person would know if Carrie liked you if she held out her hand, or if you had a bottle of Pepsi. She liked staying busy, whether it was playing with cards or working at the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Neil Stein; her mother, Joan; and her brother, Eric Stein.

Carrie is survived by her father, Lonnie Stein of What Cheer; her grandmother, Avis Stein of What Cheer; and her niece, Shelby Stein of Richland.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am on Monday March 5, 2018 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer.
Burial will be in the Garrett Cemetery at Delta.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe made to ICOPS.
