Carol Miller, 89 of New Sharon passed away Tuesday evening, November 5, 2019 at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa. Carol Jeannette Miller, the daughter of Frank and Opal (Denly) Day, was born on June 29, 1930 in Union County, Iowa.

Carol graduated from Afton High School in Afton, Iowa.

On December 10, 1949, Carol was united in marriage to Robert Miller in Afton, Iowa. To this union three daughters were born, Mary Ann, Joyce and Sue.

Carol was a typical farmers wife and housewife. Together they farmed in Northwest Iowa for many years.

Carol enjoyed staying busy crocheting, doing puzzles play cards and above all she loved to read. She was a member of the Elfsborg Lutheran Church in Pomeroy and the Lady’s Aid. She was also involved in a local neighborhood club, a 4-H Club and a card club in Afton.

Her memory will be honored by her daughters: Mary Ann Sampson of New Sharon, Joyce (& Steven) Adams of Atlantic and Sue (& Lee) Anderson of Bayard; nine grandchildren: Wendy Sampson, Todd (& Shelly) Sampson, Chris (& Elaine) Sampson, Stephanie McNair, Jeromy (& Laura) Adams, Eric (& Maryl Schakel) Anderson, John (& Leslie) Anderson, Lealand (& Heidi) Anderson and Robin (& Katie) Anderson; 35 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; four siblings: Lois Erickson of Creston, Bob (& Jeanie) Day of Creston, Max (& Fran) West Palm Beach, FL and Jim (& Carolyn) Day of Indianola; and many other relatives and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Miller; and a son-in-law, Dennis Sampson.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
A reception will follow at the Van Meter American Legion Post #403 Legion Hall Building.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to family’s name and sent to the funeral home at P.O. Box 85, New Sharon, Iowa 50207.
