C. John Crill, 76, of Rose Hill, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at his home in Rose Hill surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on October 14, 1945, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Clayton H. and Christine J. (Root) Crill.

John attended Sigourney High School and graduated with the Class of 1963. He later furthered his education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Agriculture degree while attending college in Kirksville, Missouri.

After college graduation, John was drafted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Waynewright in Alaska.

John returned home from his service to his country and was united in marriage to Marilyn Peiffer at the Sigourney Christian Church on January 30, 1971.

John was a dedicated farmer all of his life and farmed around the Rose Hill area. He started with hogs and later transitioned into cattle.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, his family and being around his farm and his livestock. He also enjoyed visiting with guests who stopped by his home to talk farming.

John’s family includes his wife, Marilyn Crill of Rose Hill; his children: Erich (& Stacy) Crill of Rose Hill, Careta Crill of Cedar Rapids, Curtis (& Lisa) Crill of Delta and Amber (& Scott) Graham of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren: Jackson, Alia, Landen, Emmalyn, Nolen and Adeline; 2 sisters, Sherry (& Layton) Claypool of Delta and Mary McMullen of Sigourney. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, David (& Jackie) Peiffer of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Christine Crill.

As was his wish, there will be no formal service or visitation. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
