Budewitz named Central assistant tennis coach

PELLA—Trevor Budewitz is the new assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach at Central College.

Budewitz has served as a teaching professional at the Green Bay (Wisconsin) Tennis Center for the past two years. He was also a middle school head tennis coach for three years while an undergraduate at Concordia University Wisconsin. He was an honors graduate there in 2017. He was a two-time all-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference honoree at No. 1 singles and No. 3 doubles for the Falcons.

“Trevor brings a really high level of enthusiasm,” coach Ryun Ferrell said. “He’s very driven and very intelligent. He really stood out among the candidates we looked at. I had a lot of fun meeting him and can’t wait for him to get here.”

A certified USTA official, Budewitz served as an intern for the 2017 NCAA Division I men’s basketball Final Four and for the 2017 U.S. Open men’s golf championship. He was also a communications/social media/event intern for the Milwaukee Kickers soccer club in 2016.

He replaces Peter Greteman, who served as assistant coach for three seasons, but recently accepted a college coaching position in Georgia. Budewitz assumes his duties August 26.

“I couldn’t be more excited to have him as part of the Central tennis family,” Ferrell said.

The Dutch women open the fall campaign August 31 with matches at St. Ambrose University and Monmouth College (Ill.).
