Bring Your Old Shoes to the Old Shoe Game

The Mahaska Community Recreation Foundation will once again collect gently used sports equipment and shoes at the Old Shoe game on Friday, August 18th. So bring your old shoes to the old show game and be a part of our “Play it Forward” program on Friday night.

The game will be held at the Stadium at Lacey Recreation Complex. As the Old Shoe game plays, from freshman through varsity, this recycle-sports-equipment program will be on site to give away or collect sports equipment.

MCRF’s Bring your Old Shoes to the Old Shoe Game campaign launched the Play It Forward program in Oskaloosa in 2013, which now has become a tradition along with bringing sports drinks instead of admission to the Old Shoe game. The Play It Forward program continually gives and receives all sizes and types of equipment such as cleats, shin guards, tennis shoes, spikes, bats, helmets and much more.

The Oskaloosa High School has supported the program from the beginning and welcomed the program to collect at their first game of the season since 2013.

For the 2017 season, you are invited to come and cheer the Oskaloosa Indians for the price of Gatorade, and if you have/need gently used equipment it’s the perfect opportunity to Play-It-Forward!
