Brenda Carol Netten, 74, of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the MHP Serenity House in Oskaloosa. She was born September 15, 1948, in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Lester and Delores Henry Ussery.

Brenda graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1966. In 1967, she was united in marriage to Herb Hugen, to this union a son Eric was born. Brenda and Herb later divorced.

Brenda worked as an administrative assistant at Clow Valve in Oskaloosa for many years. She retired from Clow after 30 plus years of service.

She was a faithful member of Hillside Bible Church in Oskaloosa for over 20 years. Brenda delighted in being a mother and grandmother. She always looked forward to family get-togethers. She enjoyed her pets, reading, and gardening.

Her family includes her son and his wife, Eric and Kristi Hugen of Monroe; three grandchildren: Hannah Hugen, Emily Hugen, and Owen Hugen; brothers and sisters, Rick Ussery of University Park, Donna (& Charlie) Fleener of Oskaloosa, Steve (& Jan) Ussery of Oskaloosa, and David Ussery of Knoxville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Michael Ussery; and her step father, Ronnie Harris.

A private family graveside service will be held in the Springfield Cemetery north of Delta. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Tuesday after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 Tuesday evening to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
