BP Rushes past North Mahaska

BELLE PLAINE – Belle Plaine rushed for 393 yards and limited North Mahaska to just 28 yards on the ground to take a 54-12 homecoming win. BP senior Ben DeMeulenaere was a one-man wrecking crew as the Belle Plaine quarterback threw for two touchdowns, rushed for three and intercepted a North Mahaska pass for a 55-yard score in the win.

North Mahaska senior Sean Knockel reeled in three passes from quarterback Sam Terpstra for 129 yards and a touchdown. He had one reception for 65 yards. Paul DeJong also caught three passes and scored a touchdown. Both scores came in the fourth quarter.

North Mahaska (0-5) trailed just 14-0 at halftime then BP doubled it with two scores in the third. North Mahaska was able to find the end zone twice in the final period, but Belle Plaine (4-1) racked up 26 more points.

DeJong led the Warhawk rushing with 11 yards on seven carries. Terpstra added nine yards on three carries.

North Mahaska’s defense had its moments. DeJong and Jaydyn Steil each picked off a DeMeulenaere aerial. Terrick Bellinger recovered a fumble for the Warhawks.

North Mahaska will host Columbus on Friday.
