Bowfishing Tournament to Raise Money for Veteran’s Airlift Command

The Bowfishing Association of Iowa will be hosting a bowfishing tournament called the “Southern Iowa Carpfest” on Saturday, July 26 from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm. This annual tournament is held to raise money for the Veteran’s Airlift Command. Registration (at 6:00 am), a mandatory participant meeting (at 7:30 am) and weigh-ins (at 6:00 pm) will be held at the Eveland Access Campground in Mahaska County. The public is welcome to join the tournament or stop by to see the weigh-ins.

Participants will be harvesting rough fish such as carp by any legal means on the Des Moines River and Lake Red Rock. The Des Moines River can be accessed from any public boat ramp from the Ottumwa Hydroelectric Dam to the Lake Red Rock Dam. Lake Red Rock can be accessed from any public boat ramp. Participants can compete in the following categories: the “Big Fish” at $10.00 per boat and “Big 20 Fish” at $20.00 per person.
