Bonnie Lou Adams, 85, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at her home in Oskaloosa.
Bonnie was born March 31, 1927, at Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Grover and Ethel Mae Sparks Musgrove. On April 14, 1946, she was united in marriage to Virgil Adams, they later divorced. Early on Bonnie worked for the school district hot lunch program. Later she worked at the lunch counter at the old Kresge’s Dime Store, and at the Maid Rite in Oskaloosa. Lastly, she was a caregiver to many elderly people in their homes, she retired from doing that in 1998. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa, D.A.V. Auxiliary, and the Lady Moose. She received recognition from the College of Regent for the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed embroidery, reading, and attending family functions.
Her family includes her three children and their spouses, Ruby and Bruce Snyder of Oskaloosa, Larry and Cathy Adams of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Lee and Pam Adams of Beacon; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and her sister, Lily May Edwards of Evans.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jim Musgrove; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Junior Moore.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 10 a.m. in the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend Michael Omundson officiating.
Burial will be in the Butler Cemetery west of Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Friday morning after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel Friday evening from 5-7 to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to MHP Hospice Serenity House or the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa.
