Bonnie Bucklew, 98, of Oskaloosa died Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa. She was born July 30, 1923, in Floyd County, Iowa, the daughter of Claude M. and Myrtle Christy Daugherty.

Bonnie graduated from Cedar High School with the class of 1943. She furthered her education at American Institute of Business in Des Moines. Upon completing her education, she went to work at Iowa Valve (now Clow Valve) in Oskaloosa.

On March 29, 1958, she was united in marriage to Miley L. Bucklew in Cedar. Following their marriage, she moved to the farm with Miley and helped with the farming operation. In addition to helping on the farm she always maintained a large garden. On July 27, 1975, Miley died, Bonnie’s strong will and independent spirit served her well as she found her way as a widow.

Bonnie was an active member of the Central United Methodist Church where she attended Sunday School and Circles. She was also a member of Marion County Farm Bureau, N.A.R.F.E., fifty plus year member of the Knoxville Chapter 85 Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Past Matron two times. In addition to her large garden she enjoyed square dancing, sewing, and roller skating.

She is survived by her sister, Icel Molyneux of Tifton; nieces and nephews, Patricia Francisco, Sue Johnson, John Langstraat, Marlene Maxwell, and Dan Daugherty; and many great nieces and nephews, brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Eloise Langstraat.

In addition to her husband, Miley, Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Ivan, Roscoe, and Victor Daugherty; a nephew, Don Daugherty; and two sisters in law, Sadie Daugherty and Geneva Daugherty.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Chad Lierman officiating.
Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery at Knoxville. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will be at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Monday morning from 9:30 until service time at 11 to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Central United Methodist Church.
