Bonnie Brandt, 91, of Arcadia, Florida and formerly of Oskaloosa passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Tidewell Hospice House in Arcadia. Bonnie LaVonne Brandt, daughter of Albert and Alice (Moot) Heddinger, was born February 14, 1926, in Spencer, Iowa.

In 1933, Bonnie was taken from her parents and sent to the Iowa Soldiers’ Orphans’ Home in Davenport, Iowa. She attended school at the orphanage and in 1943, she was placed in private homes to do domestic services. In 1946, Bonnie was released from state care, and she returned to her family in Spencer.

She married Earl Nicholas Geier, August 9, 1948; they moved to the Rock Island, Illinois area where Bonnie worked at Service Rubber factory. Bonnie married Tom Brandt in 1982. She later moved to Oskaloosa, to be closer to her son, Richard. In 2008, she moved to Arcadia, Florida, again to be near her son.

Bonnie faithfully attended church in every community she lived and made sure her grandchildren attended Sunday school. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Jerry Threlkeld of Houston, Texas; a son, Richard Geier of Arcadia, FL; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Patty Rasmussen of Winter Park, Florida; a brother, James McGee of Buena Park, California; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her two husbands, Bonnie was preceded in death by two sons: Earl and Carl Geier; a granddaughter, Monica Jean Geier; a sister, Viola Rigby; and five brothers: Ron Long and Donald, Alfred, Charles and Floyd Heddinger.
