Robert Curry, 92, of Oskaloosa, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the Hospice Serenity House. Robert “Bob” Glen Curry, son of Orval and Eva (Fern) Curry, was born August 13, 1930, in Boone, Iowa.

Bob was a 1948 graduate of Grand Junction High School in Grand Junction, Iowa and furthered his education at Simpson College and A.I.B. in Des Moines.

Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1963.

Bob married Jo Watkins, and they later divorced.

Bob married Mary Tucker Silvers on May 26, 1984, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

After his military discharge, Bob moved to Oskaloosa and was employed by Ideal Manufacturing, where he worked in the plating plant. He worked there for 15 years, after which Pepsi employed him. He worked there as a purchasing agent, purchasing the ingredients necessary to produce soft drinks. He worked there for 15 years as well, retiring in 1996.

Following his retirement, Bob worked part-time for Hy-Vee Floral Shop, making deliveries in the area.

Bob was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and a past member of the American Legion and the Elks Lodge, where he was past Exalted Ruler.

Bob and Mary moved to Homestead Assisted Living in 2013; he served on the Resident Council for ten years and nine years as president. While at Homestead, he was a friend to all and brought joy and interest to those around him.

Bob enjoyed working on computers and was a jigsaw puzzle expert.

Bob’s family includes a son, Robert “Bob” Jr. (& Stacey) Curry of Albia; six grandchildren: Skylar (& Dani), Shelbie (& Kenneth), Preston (& Ciara), Zackery, Dustin, and Amanda May (& Caleb); six great-grandchildren: Carson, Marley, Owen, Kieran, Cameron, and Elijah; a step grandson, Brandon Silvers, of Rochester, MN; a step granddaughter, Heidi (& Bryan) Malone – their children (Bob’s step great grandchildren): Gavin and Ethan Carolan, Stormie Mullenbach, Micheal Malone, and Caitlin Malone, all of Stewartville, MN; a sister, Janice Crosser of Pueblo, CO; two nieces: Stephanie and Anne Crosser; and many friends and adoptive family from Homestead of Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary, on April 12, 2016; and his stepson Dennis Silvers.

Funeral Services for Bob will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Langkamp Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Jon Nelson of Central Church officiating.
The Oskaloosa Honor Guard will present Military Honors at the funeral chapel.
Bob’s body will be cremated following the service and burial of his ashes in Forest Cemetery.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday at 11 a.m.; the family will greet visitors from 4-6 p.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Mahaska Health Foundation for the Hospice Serenity House.
