Bill Almond inducted into Iowa Babe Ruth Hall of Fame
Bill Almond of Oskaloosa was inducted into the Iowa Babe Ruth Hall of Fame in a ceremony prior to Babe Ruth’s State Tournament on Saturday June 10th at the Lacey Recreation Complex.
Matt Saville, Vice President of the Oskaloosa Babe Ruth and Senior Babe Ruth Programs, was on site to introduce Almond and stated that he was given his place in the Hall of Fame for his near 30 years of service and 30,000 volunteer hours. Referencing Bill’s dedication to the Babe Ruth program, “That many volunteer hours amazes me!” said Matt.
Boyd Brittian, the Iowa Babe Ruth Vice President, was also on the field to present the award plaque to Bill. Oskaloosa and Pella Babe Ruth teams respectfully knelt down while Bill’s family, along with many friends, looked on and cheered the inductee.
“Many thanks to Bill for his efforts in Babe Ruth for the youth in our community,” added MCRF Director Sherry Vavra.
