Beverly Pargeon, 72 of New Sharon passed away Sunday evening, September 23, 2018 at the Pella Hospice Comfort House. Beverly, the daughter of John and Edna (Hasley) Dawley, was born on March 18, 1946 in New Sharon, Iowa.

She graduated from New Sharon High School in 1964.

Bev married Paul Pargeon on June 5, 1964 at the New Sharon Friends Church. They were the parents of six children: Jana, Mike, Richard, Wes, Curt and Daryl.

Bev was a homemaker on the farm and later worked at the Poweshiek County Assessor’s Office for over 20 years.

She enjoyed her children and grandchildren so much and loved being a grandma. She spent countless hours with her family at the Pargeon family farm and attended most of her grandchildren’s activities.

Bev was a wonderful cook and fixed many family dinners. She loved her flowers, growing tomatoes and making salsa which her family thoroughly enjoyed. She loved candy, coffee-time with her friends, and her dog Gracie.

Bev’s memory will be cherished by her children: Jana (& Bill) Freeborn of New Sharon, Wes (& Gina) Pargeon of Montezuma, Curt (& Julie) Pargeon of Urbandale, Daryl (& Allison) Pargeon of Montezuma; her daughter-in-law, Gretchen Pargeon of Traer; her favorite grandchildren: Emily Pargeon, Beau Freeborn, Olivia Pargeon, Aliya Pargeon, Rachel Freeborn, Mya Pargeon, Kate Pargeon, Harlea Pargeon, Ava Pargeon, Jacob Pargeon and Rett Pargeon; her sister, Betty Harrelson of Newton; her brother, Dan (& Diana) Dawley of Montezuma; special aunt, June Williams of New Sharon; and her many nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Edna Dawley; her sons, Mike and Richard Pargeon; and her brother, Jerry Dawley.

As was Bev’s wish, her body has been cremated.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 10:30 am Saturday morning, September 29, 2018 at the New Sharon First Christian Church.
A visitation luncheon will be held following the service at the church.
Burial will be held in the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Pella Hospice or others to be designated at a later date.
