Beaver’s School Records Earn POW Award

Oskaloosa–The name D’Artagnon Beaver (Jr., Rockford, Ill., Human Services) has become synonymous with school records and he broke two more to garner Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week honors Monday.

Beaver finally won his first weekly award at WPU after leading the Statesmen last weekend.

As an individual, the junior broke his own school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:24.64 at the Simpson Kip Janvrin Open. His time also eclipsed the NAIA’s provisional-qualifying standard.

As a member of William Penn’s distance medley relay squad at the Drake Relays, he helped the navy and gold break the program mark with a time of 10:12.53. The time was good enough for the win in the Iowa College division.

Beaver currently ranks first in the Heart in the steeplechase, while he is also second in the league in the 1,500-meter run (3:53.91) and fifth in the 5,000-meter run (15:21.17).

The weekly laurel is the second for WPU this year.
